Sam Gowland is a South Shore boy, born and raised. Following his high school graduation in 1987, he started at his brother-in-law’s company while he attended New Orleans School of Refrigeration to eventually take his state contractor license exam. Ever since he was young, Sam had a drive to better himself, being incredibly motivated to achieve better. Eventually, Sam struck out on his own, using his ambition and skill to start his own company.
Sam worked diligently to build his own HVAC company from the ground up, acquiring his own customers, licenses, and partnerships while sharing these achievements with his own employees. For a company like Gowland's Heating & A/C, being a part of the community was easy. Recovering From Disaster
When Katrina hit in 2005, it left a permanent mark on the communities around New Orleans. The Category 3 storm had wind speeds of up to 125 mph and flooded 80% of New Orleans, breaking records and destroying families. Even Sam had ten feet of water in his home and his ceilings ended up collapsing. This was the moment that we really stepped up and turned Gowland's Heating & A/C into what it is today—a local, family-owned HVAC company built on helping this community.
Sale after sale, Sam eventually grew his business. Now Gowland’s Heating & A/C has become a reliable company that serves both the north and south shores of the greater New Orleans area. The community has spoken—we’re here to stay.
