We are proud to offer the best in air conditioning systems from Daikin, a top-manufacturer always on the cutting edge of new developments in comfort. Daikin products are manufactured in the USA and we offer a 12-year Daikin parts and labor warranty—one of the best warranties in the business.
One of the big advantages of Daikin air conditioning systems is inverter technology. A Daikin central air conditioner with inverter technology helps with immense energy savings. If you are considering a new air conditioning installation in Slidell, LA, or elsewhere in New Orleans and the surrounding areas, we recommend you call our team and ask about Daikin inverter air conditioners.
What IS Inverter Technology?
Of course, you’ll probably want to know more about inverter air conditioners aside from “they’re really great!” (Which they are.) Don’t worry, even though this is complex state-of-the-art technology, it isn’t that difficult to explain how it works and why it’s beneficial.
In a non-inverter air conditioner, i.e. the standard type you probably have in your house now, the air conditioner turns its motor on and off based on the comfort needs of the house. The motor runs until the thermostat signals it has reached the set temperature, and then the motor turns off.
This sounds like it’s just fine—but it means the AC goes through a bunch of stopping and starting, which consumes more energy. The motor can run at a single speed: it’s either on or it’s off.
An inverter air conditioner is able to modulate the motor’s capacity. Instead of shutting the motor off, the inverter adjusts the motor’s speed to adapt to the comfort needs of the house. It does this through a device called an inverter, which adjusts the speed in which the direction of the electric current is switched. As the current switches, it regulates the motor’s rotation speed.
The end result is the motor runs at a steady pace, consuming less energy because it doesn’t have to always run at maximum speed and isn’t shutting off and then powering up again.
The Difference an Inverter AC Makes
The steady, lower-capacity operation of an inverter motor means the air conditioner consumes less electrical energy to run. The difference can be substantial, with savings up to 58% compared to using a standard air conditioner. Although inverter air conditioners are more expensive to install, they will rapidly pay back that cost with a substantial reduction in utility bills.
There are more benefits. Because the AC adjusts to temperature needs, it creates a more even spread of cooling—you won’t experience the house getting too cold, only to then get too warm again. And because the motor undergoes far less stress, an inverter air conditioner will have a longer service life and need fewer repairs.
